Happy 4th Anniversary Sassy Studios!

Hi Everybody

Today is a very special day for Sassy Studios - it is their 4th Anniversary!  To celebrate this special day there are 4 new sassy images - all of which can be seen by following today's blog hop.  You should have arrived here from Ruza's Blog, but if you have stumbled on my blog by chance and want to go back to the beginning, start here at Sassy Studios.  There are at least two prizes to be won at each blog for (a) leaving a comment; and (b) guessing the correct anniversary year of the card on the blog.

I created my card using 'items' that would be received for that anniversary year as a gift - here is a list that might help you . Without further ado, here is my card.

This image is called 'Bubble Bath Sassy' - she is coloured completely with ProMarkers, I love how she is only wearing red lipstick, diamond earrings and a smile!  I used my Silhouette Cameo to print and cut both her and the background, she is coloured with ProMarkers, (including the gold claw feet on the tub,) and the bubbles are covered with diamond stickles.  Have I given you enough clues to guess which anniversary year?

Here is a look at the inside, and a closer look at some of the items I used.

Be sure to leave a comment and a guess before you go to the next stop which is the very talented Mary's Blog.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
  1. Crafting By Design - Anything Goes
  2. Crafting For All Seasons - Make It Girly
  3. DRS Designs - The Letter B
  4. Happy Campers - Bling

The Crafter's Cafe Blog Hop

Hi Everyone

This is such an exciting day for me - I am thrilled to announce that I was chosen to be part of the DT for The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog (TCCCB).

I am part of Team B and over the next 3 days on this blog hop you get to know us all a little better (Team A introduced themselves for the first 3 days, and had some wonderful projects on show, I hope you got to see them.)

You should have arrived here from Rosica's Blog, but if you stumbled upon my blog by chance you may want to start at TCCCB.  We have some wonderful sponsors for this hop, and they are

So if you would like to be eligible for a prize (or two) - did I mention prizes?  It's a blog hop of course there are prizes :).  Please leave some love on each blog along the way and a comment on the main challenge blog.

So a little bit about me.

I moved here from the UK back in 1999 and quickly got involved in scrap booking - well back then I had 2 young children so I just had to do it. LOL!  I quickly fell in love with this hobby (some might say obsession) and started exploring other paper crafts (cardmaking being a firm favourite.)  So I find myself here today with my little blog, and very happy to be part of a wonderful online crafting community.)  Here are a few of my favourite projects since starting my blog.

Thanks for stopping by today, hope to see you again soon. Your next stop is Isobel's Blog.

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday 183 - Tag Sale

Hi Everyone

Time for another Dare to Be Sassy Thursday over at Sassy Studio Designs and the theme this week is 'Tag Sale' (create a tag or use a tag in your creation.)  I will admit I kinda cheated on this (blush) - I actually used these luggage tags that I bought from Hobby Lobby. But, I did make 2 items so I hope I am forgiven.

Here is the 'naked' tag.

I actually needed a couple of luggage tags, because when I was recently at the airport I am embarrassed to admit that the last suitcase went round the carousel a few times before I realized it was mine. Sometimes I can be quite a 'visual' person - please someone tell me that they also go into the liquor store and search for a wine they previously enjoyed by the look of the label because they can't remember the name of it - anyone?

My youngest daughter who is into roller derby, is going to 'Roller Con' in Vegas at the end of July, so the first label I made for her.

This is what I put on the backside of the label.

Having opened her gear bag on occasion, this should be taken as a serious warning.

Here is my second tag.

 And on the back.

The background paper for these is printed from files on my Cameo, and the images (Kutie Kim Roller Girl and Theodora Sassy) are colored with ProMarkers.  The font is a Lettering Delights Thin Font called 'Tall Girl'.

Thanks for stopping by today - I hope you will check out all the great projects from the rest of the DT (who didn't cheat!) on the Sassy Studios Blog.

Graduation Day Memories - Dabbling with digital.

Hi Everyone

I was playing around with Photoshop last night and a free digital template from Jessica Sprague from her 7 days in June Challenges.  The thing I discovered is, boy are my Photoshop skills really rusty!  Thankfully I can look at my online classes at Jessica Sprague and it all comes flooding back (well may be not "flooding"!)  Here are a few photos from my daughter's recent graduation that I popped into the template just for a fun page that will help us remember her special day.

This was a pretty basic layout, all I had to do was slip in the photos and type in a few word in the speech bubbles and a title - that's it, done.  Now I just need to do this on a more regular basis :)

Thanks for stopping by today.

Feelin' Summery

Hi Everyone

Well, the sun is definitely here and I am at last feeling really summery - so much so that today I have two cards.  I have these two very different images, and I couldn't decide which one to use - so I used both of them.

The paper pack I used for both cards is called 'Sunny Side' by Pebbles.

For the first card I used a rubber stamp called 'No Tan Line Fanny' by I Brake For Stamps - she is a little bit naughty, and therefore one of my favorites. She is coloured completely with ProMarkers.

My second card is using a rubber stamp from The Greeting Farm (sorry I can't remember her name) and is also coloured with ProMarkers.

Here is a closer look at some of the details.

The sunglasses brad is from Paper Wishes, the 'button' brads (also coloured with ProMarkers) are from Hobby Lobby, and the sentiment is written with my Silhouette Cameo (using the Silhouette Sketch Pens and Lettering Delights Font 'Tall Girl'.)

I am entering my cards into the following challenges:
  1. Craft-room Challenge - Here Comes Summer
  2. Crafty Sentiments Designs - Fun In The Sun
  3. Deep Ocean Challenge - Welcome Summer
  4. Papertake Weekly - Hot Hot Hot
  5. Loves Rubberstamps - Summer Theme
  6. ABC Challenges - Summer
  7. Mema's Crafts - Anything Goes with a twist Summer/Vacation
  8. Stamp and Create - Summer Fun
  9. Sketch and Stash - Sketch

Thanks for stopping by today - here's hoping the sun is shinning on you.

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday 182 Clean and Simple

Hi Everyone

Welcome to another Dare To Be Sassy Thursday challenge from Sassy Studios.  This week the theme is 'Clean and Simple'.  If I am honest, this without a doubt was the hardest challenge for me - crazy right?  I mean it's just clean and simple - it's not difficult is it?  Apparently for me the answer is "yes".

After much scratching of my head I finally had an idea, and then I asked my daughters for help with the colour scheme - needed the right 'pop' of colour.  So this is what I we came up with.

These 'legs' actually belong to Dorothy from April's Wizard of Oz release.  I printed the image and sentiment (font is called 'Fling') from my Silhouette Cameo, and coloured with ProMarkers.  The shoe colour my girls chose is called 'Lime Green'.

So that's it - not nearly as painful as I thought that it would be.  I think I may even make a few more of these to keep on hand for girly birthdays or special events.

I hope you will visit the other Sassy Studios Design Team members to see what they have created, and maybe you will be inspired to join in with the challenge and win some sassy images for yourself.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

  1. CAS on Sunday - Black and White + One
  2. One Stitch At A Time - Anything Goes
  3. Craft Lovin Challenge Blog -  Anything Goes
  4. Eureka Stamps - Anything Goes
  5. There She Goes - Anything Goes

Summer Fairy at Night - Simply Betty Fan Challenge

Hi Everyone

A quick post today with a card I made using the free image 'Summer Fairy' from Simply Betty Stamps - details on how you can get this image are here.  The challenge is to create your own background behind her.  I used some Dylusions Inks (Black Marble, Crushed Grape and Vibrant Turquoise) from Dyan Reaveley to create this background.  To give it a little more interest I used a flower stamp around the edges and Dyan's bleach out technique to colour them.

Here is a closer look at the background and edges.

I didn't want to 'fussy' around with any more details, the photo doesn't show it very well but the flowers are highlighted with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen in 'Clear Star' to give it a little extra sparkle.  the image is coloured with ProMakers and the wings finished off with a little 'Star Dust Stickles'.

To me she looks almost like a firefly in the night sky.  Thanks for taking a peek at my project today.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

  1. Simply Betty Stamps - Summer Fairy/Simple Background
  2. Bunny Zoe's Crafts - Wings
  3. Tammy's Scrapin Corner - Anything with Wings
  4. Fresh Brewed Blog- Mermaids/Fairy/Fantasy

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday 181 Disney Vacation

Hi Everyone

Time for another Dare To Be Sassy Thursday over at Sassy Studio Designs.  This weeks challenge is to use a princess or villain in your project.  I decided to use the Belle Pinup, which is from the Make A Wish collection.  I think that Belle is probably my favorite Disney Princess - we took a trip to Disney World (flying back then from the UK) when my oldest daughter was about 18 months old, and  'Beauty and The Beast' had just been released on video.  Well, you can tell that was a long time ago because (a) my oldest daughter has just graduated from university, and (b) we bought the video, because they didn't have DVDs back then!

On with my project, my easel card.

I printed Belle on to a ballroom background, and then coloured her with ProMarkers.  I decided to forgo her usual yellow dress (I thought it would just get 'lost') in favor of a sassy red one with a some stickles and pearls for bling!

Then of course I needed a sassy little sentiment to go with it.

The rose on the bottom corner is made from an Elizabeth Craft Designs die.  Here is a look at the card from an angle (the card is cut with my Silhouette Cameo using a file from the online Silhouette store.)

I will be entering my card into the following challenges;

  1. My Time to Craft - Fairytale
  2. Alphabet Challenge - I is for Image
  3. Aud Sentiments - Anything Goes
  4. Lady Anne's Challenge - Anything Goes

  6. Paper Playtime - Anything Goes
  7. Passion For ProMarkers - Inspired by a Fairytale
  8. Bearly Mine - Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you will pop over to Sassy Studios and check out what the rest of the DT have made (always something fabulous!)

See you next time.

Here comes Summer!

Hi Everyone

Firstly I must apologize to anyone reading this who hasn't seen the sun for a while, but here in Colorado it has been gorgeous - so I felt a summer card coming on, and here it is.

I recently bought this little paper pack 'Sunny Side' (by Pebbles) and thought that it would go perfectly with this images from Saturated Canary called 'Smokin' Hot'.  I used the print and cut feature on my Cameo to cut out the image within a circle, and then coloured her with ProMarkers.

The flowers in the the bottom lower left are made with a die from Elizabeth Craft Designs (there is a great tutorial for making flowers with this type of die here.)

The sentiment is just cut out from one of the sheets of paper in the pack.

The pennant/banner I also made with my Cameo, cut from a file from the Silhouette online store and I drew the letters on using a Silhouette sketch pen and the Lettering Delight Thin Font called 'Tall Girl'.

I plan on entering this card into the following challenges:

  1. 4 Crafty Chicks - Flowers
  2. Delightful Challenges - Here Comes The Sun
  3. Dutch Dare Card Challenge - Summer's coming
  4. Shelly's Images - Beach theme (Summer)

  8. Sister Act Card Challenge - Anything Goes
  9. Stamping for the Weekend - Cute
  10. The Outlawz Challenge - Ice Cream
  11. The Squirrel and The Fox - Summer or Winter

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday 180 - June Bride

Hi Everyone

Welcome to Sassy Studio Designs Dare To Be Sassy Thursday challenge 180 'June Bride'.  This weeks challenge is to make a card or project for a bridal shower, bride or anniversary.  This week I chose to use 'Garter Sassy' - I have had an idea for this image floating around for sometime, and I am really pleased with the finished card.

The card measures 12" x 5 1/4" - the card is actually folded into thirds so when you pull it out of the envelope this is the first part you see.

Followed by this.

And finally the sentiment.

I hope will take a look at Sassy Studios Blog and see all the fabulous projects from the rest of the DT - we would love it if you would join in and created a project of your own (you could even win a sassy image of your own!)

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Going a little washi whacky!

Hi everyone

About a week ago I was 'enabled' by my friend Carole (from On My Craft Room Wall) to join a group buy for washi tape.  I already have a little bit of washi tape, and I have maybe used it for one project - why would I possibly need more?  Then I started to look around Pinterest (a great way to waste several hours in my opinion!) and found some fun/simple cards made using washi tape.  So I thought that I would have a go, and here is what I came up with.

These are all very simple cards, quick to make and great to have on hand in your stash.  Needless to say after playing with the washi tape I joined the group buy and placed an order for 20 rolls of tape(!!!)  Watch this space for some more creations.
