Dare To Be Sassy Thursday 169 - Feeling Funny

Hi Everyone

Today is my last post as Guest Design Team member over at Sassy Studio Designs, I can't tell you how much fun this has been and what a great bunch of ladies the DT are to work with.  Well, it's Thursday so that means it is time for another 'Dare To Be Sassy' challenge - the theme this week is 'Feeling Funny' (use a funny or witty sentiment.)  Here is my card.

The image I used is called Martini Pin-up Sassy, she is coloured with ProMarkers, the background paper is a file from Silhouette online store, and the sentiment is written using my Cameo, Chomas Pen Holder and a Lettering Delights font called 'Tall Girl'. Here is a look at the inside of the card.

The sentiment inside was also created with the Cameo using the 'Tall Girl' font.  I hope you will check out what the DT's have created and join in the challenge over at Sassy Studio Designs.

J'Adore Card

Hi Everyone

Well we are finally seeing some snow here in the foothills of Colorado!  I guess it's about time, I mean it is January, and it doesn't seem right that for the past few weeks I have been out walking my dog in a light jacket.  I am going to try hard not to complain as we do need the moisture - instead I am just going to stay in my craft room and pull out my ProMarkers and colour.

Here is my first coloured card to enter in a challenge (or two) for 2013.

How adorable is this image?  It was a freebie by the very talented Krista Smith from Saturated Canary (it is no longer free, but available for a reduced rate in her store.)  As I mentioned I coloured her with my ProMarkers, the background paper is from a 6x6 paper stack called Lost & Found (My Minds Eye) and the sentiment I made with my Cameo using a Lettering Delights Thin Font called Swirls.

Here are the two challenges I am entering:

1.  Passion for ProMarkers - the theme there is to 'add sparkle.'

2.  I <heart> ProMarkers - the theme is 'Love is all around.'

Hogs and Kisses

Hi Everyone

Today I have a couple of different Valentines Day cards to show you.  Valentines Day quickly became my favourite holiday when we moved here from the UK and my girls were in elementary school.  In the UK Valentines Day isn't that big with children in school (at least it wasn't 14 years ago.)  At my girls elementary school the rule was that you had to give a Valentine card to everyone in the class or no one (treats were an optional extra), they even set aside time in art class and provided kids with materials to make their cards (for many at this particular school the buying of cards would have been cost prohibitive for many parents.)  As one of my daughters has a Valentines Day birthday (much to her chagrin) I used to always be in class that particular day with birthday cake, what a great atmosphere, so many smiles and everyone getting along.

Sadly those days are long behind me and I no longer get to make treats for a class of elementary school children.  So this year I decided to make a few cards and send them to my friends children (anonymously of course!)  Here is a look at the first one.

How adorable is this pig?  It is from a Lettering Delights set called Hogs and Kisses.  The background paper is from a Valentine paper pack sold at Target in the dollar section last year, and of course I just had to mount them on an action wobble spring.

Here is the second card I made (had to include one suitable for my friends four-legged 'kids')

This little dog is also from a Lettering Delights set called Great Scott It's Love.

So now on with the projects.  I'm sure Kelleigh was reading my mind when she designed this file.  I needed a 'little something' for my friends grandchildren, they are moving to a new house and will have a new garden.  So my 'little something' is this... Seed Packet Cards :)

Here is a look at the inside.

This file is super easy to put together.  The paper I used is 'Greenhouse' by Carolyn Gavin (K & Company),  the bird and butterfly are from Lettering Delight files (cut with my Cameo of course) - and just for fun I mounted them on Action Wobble Springs.  I used MTC software to spiral and print the sentiment "How does your garden grow?" (I only just learned how to do this this weekend - thank you Anita!)

I love the way these turned out, but got to thinking about other things that you could put in the pocket of this card - so much fun stuff, my head was spinning with ideas.  Here is what I did.

I thought that this would be a fun little gift to give to someone who needs to be pampered, inside is a small packet of homemade bath salts, (but it could just as easily hold a gift certificate for a mani/pedi.)

I also finished off the inside by making a closure (not sure exactly what this type is called) for the packet, and stamping a sentiment.

The paper I used for this card is 'Posh' (Teresa Collins), 'spa diva' stamp by Rubber Romance, sentiment stamp (Hampton Arts), a flower and 'bling' from my stash.

Make Your Valentine Card Even More Special

Another first for me today - I am guest designer over at The BugBytes.  Thank you so much Pam for inviting me, I am beyond flattered and extremely excited.

I thought I would just make a simple card for Valentines Day for my youngest daughter.  February is a very busy month for me in the card making department as both my daughters have birthdays this month (one actually on Valentines Day.) Don't forget to check the end of this post on how to make your valentine card even more special.

Here is the card I made for her.

This is an SVG file from Lettering Delights, called Kyoto Kuties which was given as a freebie by Jin from Under A Cherry Tree.  I made mine into a card by taking two of the base layers and welding them together in Silhouette Studio.  These are the various component parts cut out and ready to be assembled.

I ran the various pieces through the Xyron machine, and then stuck them all together.  I used pop-dots for her sleeves and hands to give a little more dimension.

In the original SVG file this little girl is holding an umbrella, but I decided to give her this sign instead.  The stamp I bought in the dollar bin at M's several years ago, and the card stock is taped to a toothpick which I coloured with a Stampin' Up marker.

Here is another look at her with the envelope I made from a piece of patterned card stock called 'Harmony' (My Little Shoebox.)

As promised an idea to make your valentine card a little more special, check out this link Valentines Postmark.  I have lived in Colorado since 1999, and was so excited to find out about the special postmark you could get from Loveland, CO.  Over the years I discovered many other places that put special postmarks on envelopes for 14th February - my girls and husband got them every year (of course I never knew who they were from as the cards were never signed.)
