Graduation Day Memories - Dabbling with digital.

Hi Everyone

I was playing around with Photoshop last night and a free digital template from Jessica Sprague from her 7 days in June Challenges.  The thing I discovered is, boy are my Photoshop skills really rusty!  Thankfully I can look at my online classes at Jessica Sprague and it all comes flooding back (well may be not "flooding"!)  Here are a few photos from my daughter's recent graduation that I popped into the template just for a fun page that will help us remember her special day.

This was a pretty basic layout, all I had to do was slip in the photos and type in a few word in the speech bubbles and a title - that's it, done.  Now I just need to do this on a more regular basis :)

Thanks for stopping by today.

Dabbling with digital - You Are Truly Amazing

I am really getting back into playing around with Photoshop, and I am loving it.  I have mentioned before that my youngest daughter is a member of the Denver Roller Dolls, this picture of her was taken at practice by Joel Giltner (Shutter Up).  I was immediately struck by how that red bandanna around her head reminded me of 'Rosie the Riveter' - this is the original colour photo.

After playing around in Photoshop for a while, and thanks to a great tutorial by Jessica Sprague, this is the page I ended up with.

I really love the way this page turned out, usually I finish a page, save it, go back, tweak it, save, go back - you get the picture.  Well I did this page yesterday and I'm so pleased with it decided to post it today - without any further 'messing'.

The template I used was a freebie designed by Cathy Zeilske - more of her templates can be found at Designer Digitals.

Thanks for taking a look at today's project.

Dabbling in digital - Reason to Smile Layout

Hi Everyone

Hope everyone has been enjoying this holiday weekend.  Today I decided to play around with Photoshop, which I haven't done in ages.  I did some online lessons with Jessica Sprague, the basic class is excellent for complete newbies like me - but I soon realized that I had forgotten a lot!  No problem as the online lessons are always available to you once you purchase them.

I have collected quite a few paper packs, kits and templates since starting digital scrap booking, so thought that it was about time I pulled them out and played with them.  Here is my layout.

These photos were taken on a recent road trip we took over the summer to New Mexico.  My oldest daughter, Lauren was home for a few weeks from university, she is up in Tacoma, WA.  It was a hot sunny day, we were waiting in a shady spot for everyone to decide what we were going to do next - the perfect opportunity to have a silly 5 minutes.  My other daughter Phoebe, with camera in hand, managed to capture the moment.

For this layout I used a template called Half Pack 43 by Cindy Schneider available here from Sweet Shoppe Designs.  The paper I used is from a kit called Remember to Smile by Kristin Cronin-Barrow, also from Sweet Shoppe Designs.

I'm quite pleased with the way this page turned out - I may tweak it a little and play around with some of the other digital elements in the kit, I will be sure to post the 'final' page before I print it out.

Then & Now - Digital LO

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, (insert embarrassed face here) - things have been quite hectic.  Last week I was having floors refinished so had to move into a hotel for a few days.  Not quite as luxurious as it sounds, especially as I was sharing with my 18 year old and my dog (my husband picked a good time to go out of town on business.)  All I can say this thank goodness for screw-top wine bottles (I forgot to take a corkscrew!) red solo cups and take-out.

Well, I'm back home now (house is still a mess,) and I thought that it was about time I posted on my poor neglected blog.  As I said in a previous post I am starting to dabble in the digital world, and much to my surprise I love it.  I have been taking an online class at http://www.jessicasprague.com/ called 'Up and Running with Photoshop'.  It is so much fun, and so easy to follow.  Here is one of the layouts I made.

This really was fairly simple to do, this page is part of the course materials you can download so all I had to do was add photos, journalling and some dates.

I can't wait to do more lessons and learn more stuff.  I am already drooling over some digital paper packs that are available online.

Thanks for stopping by - I promise not to leave it so long until next time.
