Dare To Be Sassy Thursday 173 - Fancy Folds

Hi Everyone

Today I am Guest Designer over at The Bugbytes - thank you Pam for having me. Time for another Dare To Be Sassy Thursday over at Sassy Studios, the theme this week is 'Fancy Folds'.  As soon as I saw this challenge I knew exactly what I was going to do, I had seen a beautiful "Star Card" on Pinterest and it was just begging for me to make it.  Here is the card all folded up.

The paper I used for this card is from Authentique stack called 'Renew'.  The embellishments are cut from various dies that I have : Mini Fanciful Flourish (Cheery Lynn Designs), Small Butterfly (Elizabeth Craft Designs) and the flowers are from a small flower punch I have (?Marvy.)  Here is a closer look.

Now for a look at the inside.

The image I used for the inside is France Honey - I just love her!  I used my Silhouette Cameo to print and cut her (also to make the offset) and then coloured her with ProMarkers.

The sentiment I made using my Cameo with a Silhouette Sketch Pen, and a Lettering Delights Thin Font.

Here is the link to the Star Card tutorial.

I hope you will pop on over to Sassy Studios and take a look at all the gorgeous creations from the Design Team.  I hope I have inspired you to join in the challenge and win some of these sassy images for your very own - don't forget if you use a Sassy Studios image you can enter twice.

Until next time.

Vintage Map Decoupage Plates

Hi Everyone

Today I am taking a break from bringing you  my latest card, to show you a gift that I made for my husbands birthday last week.  The idea came to me after browsing Pinterest (I get too many ideas there!)  I saw these plates - now as beautiful as they are I knew I could make something for much less moolah!

I haven't done any decoupage for a while, but in my cupboard I still had all the 'ingredients' I needed.

This paper pad from 7 Gypsies (Global) - was exactly what I was looking for, the maps were just perfect.

The only problem was I didn't have was a glass plate, which after a quick shopping trip to Bed Bath and Beyond and parting with about $5.00 I had two.  (Sorry no pictures of the naked plates.)

After washing them and drying them thoroughly, I began the very quick process of  'reverse decoupage' - this tutorial gives great instructions (and coincidentally shows a picture of the naked plate I used.)  I covered the back of my plate with Modge Podge and then smoothed over the paper I'd chosen (which was already cut just a little larger than the size I needed.) I took my time smoothing out the air bubbles, and then left it to dry for 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes I trimmed down the paper and GENTLY sanded the edges to make sure they were nice and neat with the edges of the plate.  I added 2 more coats of Modge Podge (allowing it to dry well in between) and finally finished it off with the acrylic sealer.  Here are the fruits of my labor.

I am very happy with the way these turned out - and I impressed the heck out of my husband too!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Spring Fever - Lacy Sunshine Challenge #6

Hi Everyone

Today is a new challenge over at Lacy Sunshine and the theme is 'Spring Fever'.  A couple of weeks ago I entered one of the challenges and was chosen as Guest Designer for this challenge - I feel very honored.  Here is my GDT card for this challenge.

This image is called 'Violet' and is from Heather's 'Flowerpot Pretties' - her images are all such fun to colour, but I have a particular fondness for this image as Violet was my grandmothers name.

The image is coloured with ProMarkers, the 'doily' is cut with my Silhouette Cameo and the background paper is from a 6 x 6 pack from Studio G.  Here is a closer look at the butterflies.

This is a die from Elizabeth Craft Designs (713 Small Butterfly) - I just love how delicate this looks and all it needed was a little bling for the body to finish it off.

I created the sentiment using my Cameo and Silhouette Sketch Pens, the font is called 'Hearth' from Lettering Delights Thin Fonts and I used a SU 'word window' punch to cut it out.

Check out Heather's delightful images at her store - this is the official and only authorized store for her digital stamps.

I hope you will check out all of the wonderful creations that the design team has come up with and join in the Lacy Sunshine Challenge - you could find yourself as the next GDT member or winning some of Heather's wonderful images.

Thanks for stopping by.

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday 172 - Rainbows After the Showers

Hi Everyone

It's Thursday, and so time for another Dare To Be Sassy Thursday Challenge over at Sassy Studio Designs.  The challenge is called 'Rainbows After The Showers', you need to use three or more colours of the rainbow.  Here is my card.

The image I have used is 'Katniss Girl of Fire Sassy' she is available here, I've coloured her, and the butterflies (a MS punch) with ProMarkers.  The background paper is a file from the Silhouette online store, I finished the butterflies off with a little bling and the sentiment is from The Angel Company (TAC).

I hope you will join in the challenge over at Sassy Studios, as always there is a chance to win 2 Sassy Studio images of your choice.  Don't forget to check out all the fabulous cards that the DT have made.

I have also decided to enter this into the following challenge (thank you Andree for the suggestion):

  1. Emma's Crafty Challenge - 'Butterflies'

Until next time.

What's new pussycat? - Simply Betty Stamps

Hi Everyone

I have another card I made today with the free image from Simply Betty Stamps, which is for the Facebook Fan Challenge.

I only used the top half of the image because I knew that I wanted to use it for a circular easel card.
The papers I used are from the 'Cherry Limeade Stack' (DCWV), the image is coloured with ProMarkers, the card, doily and flowers are made using my Silhouette Cameo. Here is a look at the card freestanding.

The inside sentiment I also made using my Cameo - not sure why I came up with that sentiment but now I have the voice of Tom Jones and that song in my head!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Medusa Card - Simply Betty Stamps

Hi Everyone

I'm here today with a quick card I made using a Simply Betty Stamps image.  This image is free when you sign up as a fan on the Simple Betty Fan Group on Facebook, and use it for the challenge.  Here is my card coloured as usual with ProMarkers.

I had to finish it off with some 'snakeskin' ribbon and a serpent charm (how cute is that?)

You can find details of the challenge here.

Bye for now.

Hello Sunshine

Hi Everyone

Here is a little card I made yesterday.  It was such a beautiful day, the sun was shining and the temperature was in the 60's - not too shabby for Colorado in March.  I just love this cute little image from Heather Valentin at Lacy Sunshine.

The image is coloured with ProMarkers, the butterfly is a MS punch, the card and the rest of the embellishments are cut with the Cameo.  The sentiment is written with a Silhouette sketch pen, the font is from Lettering Delights called 'Wispy'.

The paper I used is called "Sunshine" by My Minds Eye.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

  1. Lacy Sunshine Challenge 5 - 'Anything Goes'
  2. Joanna Sheen Challenge - 'Come Rain or Shine'
  3. C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - 'Mother's Day/Female'
  4. Passion for ProMarkers - 'Bingo Board' (I used ribbons, free and blooms.)
  5. Glitter n Sparkle Challenge - 'Cute'
  6. A Little Bit Crafty - 'Anything Goes'
