Whooooo loves you?

Hi everyone - can't believe that a whole week has gone by and I haven't posted (naughty blog momma that I am.)  Today Kelleigh over at Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs is hosting a "Back to School" blog hop - the creative team has come up with some cute projects so I hope you are able to take a peek (and there is a chance to win a prize!)

I have been so busy with life in general and getting my youngest daughter packed up and ready to go back to university I didn't think I had time to make a project for the blog hop.  As my daughters are both at university I wasn't really sure I could do this theme justice - WRONG.  Although my girls are that much older, they still appreciate a 'little something' to send them on their way back to their studies.  This is what I came up with.

Both of these files are available in Kelleigh's store here.  I just love the owl card - isn't he adorable?

He is so simple to put together (love that.)  I ran his 'chest' and 'wings' through an embossing folder, and used googly eyes instead of the paper pieces from the template. You can find the owl template here.

Here is the inside - I created the sentiment using the Amy Chomas pen holder on my Cameo.

Let's take a closer look at the gable box.

The paper I used for this file I actually printed myself on my wide format printer, it is a pattern available in the Silhouette online store (designed by Lori Whitlock.)  The only change I made to the file was to cut a hole in one of the sides (1 3/4" in diameter) to accommodate one of the sweet treat cups from Stampin' Up - this acts as a little 'peep-hole' so that you can check out exactly what is inside.

I also added a little tag with a gold ball chain fastener to the top of the box.

Pyramid Boxes

Today I am guest designer over at The Bugbytes - thanks Pam for having me back to play again.I was looking through my various svg files the other day and came across one for these pretty little Pyramid Boxes.

The file comes from Monica's Creative Room, the files are free and there is a 'donate' button for anyone who feels so inclined.  She has a ton of really cute files - well worth checking out.

I got a little carried away and made 4 of these boxes.

I think they would be a very elegant addition to a dinner party table, with little treats in for your guests.  Take a look at the inside.

Personally I think they are just waiting for a handmade chocolate (or two!)

The black card stock for the box is from Colorbox, as is shimmery bronze card stock.  The glittery black card is from DCWV.  All the bronze card stock for the outside elements I ran through an embossing folder called 'Square Lattice' (from Stampin' UP.)  The beads,charms and gems are all from my stash.

I scream for ice cream

Just a quick post today for a little project I made for the Cameo Spotlight Challenge.  This is a new blog with challenges for people to spotlight what thy can do with their cameo.  My friend Sabrina from Sabriolet Designs is one of the design team members along with a bunch of talented ladies.  The first challenge theme is  'summer'.  What screams of summer to me?  Ice cream of course.

This is a project I made up very quickly this morning using part of a SVG Cuts file called Ice Cream Birthday SVG Kit.  This kit has some really cute things in it to make, this is just one of them.  For the cone I used Kraft card stock and an embossing folder from SU called 'Square Lattice'.  The pattern paper on top is  from my stash (sorry I can't remember the company), and the gems and button from the $1.00 bins at M's.

3D Wedding Gazebo Card

Hi Everyone!  Finally back to some serious crafting after a break for kitchen remodels, friends visiting from the UK (who,we had a blast with, and are sad they are gone), visits to the emergency vets with my dog (fingers crossed on a second round of antibiotics) - life - PHEW!

My project for today is a 3d wedding card - well, it's not really a card but that is what I intend to use it for.  This file is from the Silhouette online store and is called "Lantern Wedding Couple.'  This card is for a couple of my husbands co-workers who got married in July and are having a celebration later this month.

The file comes in 5 pieces, which I cut from white card stock using my Cameo.  I ran all the pieces (except the 'couple') through my Sizzzix machine using a swirl embossing folder.  Here is a closer look at the embossed roof.

I decided to add a little colour with some vines (also a Silhouette file), and pink flowers (EK Success flower punch).  I fixed the vine in place with some glue dots and added a touch of pink stickles in the center of each flower.

I finished it off by generating a sentiment on my computer, and mounting it on dimensional pop-dots.

Sadly I won't be attending the celebration, but I really hope that they like it.

I'm hot, but not in a good way!

Phew!  It has been quite 'warm' here in Colorado - temps in the 90's and 100's.  I think I mentioned before that I have friends visiting from the UK so we have been out and about having fun - so I haven't been doing much crafting. I have however been doing a lot of shopping and every time I go into the store, the shop assistants always ask "How are you today?"  My standard answer (much to the embarrassment of the teenage daughters with me) is "Hot, and not in a good way."

I wish I could be 'hot' like this cute chick from Saturated Canary.  This image is called 'I'm sweating you'.

She is coloured with Pro Markers (skin: Blush/Soft Peach, hair: Vanilla/Sandstone/Mustard, clothes Salmon Pink and Cool Aqua.)  The paper is from Heidi Grace Designs (sorry I can't remember the name), ribbon and lace from my stash.  The flowers on the bottom are made with card candi (which I have raved about before) by Craftworks.  Here is a closer look at the flowers.

I bought a load of card candi a while back and shared it with my friend DeAnna from Paper Grandma. One of the packs she bought and shared with me was called 'Icing' - these are plain white pearlised.  I wasn't sure how much I was going to use these until she suggested that I could colour them with my markers to make perfectly co-ordinating embellishments (genius!)

Here is another look at a little detail that does not show up so well in the top picture - a little bead of Diamond Glaze for the sweat on her forehead.

A Bunch of 'Bad Apples'

So yesterday I volunteered (last minute) to make a 'Get Well' card that my daughter needed.  As I have mentioned before she is a Denver Roller Doll - recently roster-ed on to the 'Bad Apples" roller derby team.  Many people who I have told about this have greet the news with some disdain, that I would let my daughter join these ranks of women who are generally regarded as somewhat 'trashy'??

Well, let me tell you about these so-called 'trashy' women.  One of them learned that a very young fan was in hospital diagnosed with a very serious condition - that skater immediately contacted the rest of her team and arranged to go and visit this little girl in hospital, take her a card and a load of roller derby goodies.

I volunteered to make the card for them all to sign.  Here is how it turned out.

All of this was cut using my Silhouette Cameo and files from the Silhouette online store.  The tree apples are stamped with Peachy Keen faces and mounted on action-wobble springs (sorry no video as I was cutting this one close to the wire.)  The sentiment on the sign was made using a single line font and a gel pen in my Chomas Pen Holder - I'm really happy with how it turned out.

The sentiment inside reads 'Get Better Soon!' - with plenty of space left for the team to sign and write messages (the card is actually 12" x 12".)

So at the end of the day I am proud of my daughter for being involved in Roller Derby, and no matter what others may think, I think she has an awesome bunch of teammates.

Shine Card with a FREE digi stamp

Wow - long time, no hear from me :(  I would love to tell you that I had been whisked away on some exotic island for a vacation, but no such luck - I've been busy with chores, broken cars with flat batteries (not my forte - but the good news is I now know how to jump-start a car!), insurance companies (yuck!) and I guess just busy with life in general.

But today I am back :)  I spent yesterday evening in my craft room, looking at my poor neglected blog and some of the blogs I follow.  Everyone has been so busy making such beautiful projects (except me), so I decided it was about time I did something.  Obviously I needed to 'buy' a new digi  stamp, (isn't it amazing how a little craft shopping can get your creative juices flowing?)  My first port of call was The Saturated Canary Challenge Blog.  To my pleasant surprise (and relief to my credit card) I found that Krista (the very talented artist/owner of The Saturated Canary) had a free digi stamp called 'Fancy'.  She fits perfectly with this month's challenge over at Saturated Canary, so here is what I did with her.

She is coloured using ProMarkers (Blush, Soft Peach for skin, Vanilla, Sandstone, Mustard for hair, Cool Grey 5, Pink Lobster, Blender for dress and hair ribbon)  The paper is The Blackcurrant Stack (DCWV) and of course just a little touch of Diamond stickles for the hair.  The ribbon and gems are from my stash, the 'Shine' sentiment is computer generated, and the flower cut using my Cameo.
